Pelosi: '500 million Americans' losing jobs

This from the same person who justified the inclusion of hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for contraceptives in the $825 billion economic stimulus package by claiming family planning services “reduce cost.” Thereby implying that children are a burden to taxpayers. And they joked about how ‘dumb’ GW was!! This would be funny if it weren’t so sad.

House speaker makes big goof on how bad economy really is.

The economy may be bad, but if you listen to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, it's worse than is even statistically possible.

While answering a recent question about the speed of passing an economic recovery package, the California Democrat stated, "500 million Americans lose their jobs. I don't think we can go fast enough to stop that."

Proposes radical deal even as Russia revives Cold War-era military bases.

By Aaron Klein

JERUSALEM – President Obama plans to offer Russia a deal whereby each country would reduce its nuclear weapons stockpile by 80 percent, the Times of London reported today.

The proposal is consistent with Obama's previous calls on the campaign trail for the elimination of all the world's nuclear weapons, arguing the Cold War is over.

Obama's statements came even while Russia reportedly worked to revive its Cold War-era naval activities and weapons supply channels to former allies in a clear challenge to the U.S.

WND also reported one nuclear adviser to Obama proposed Israel give up its nuclear weapons to ensure Iran halts its illicit nuclear program.

The Times quoted an official from the Obama administration stating the president seeks a radical treaty to cut the number of nuclear warheads to 1,000 for each country. Also, the official said Obama would review a plan by the Bush administration for a U.S. missile defense shield in Eastern Europe, a project fiercely opposed by Moscow. (Full story at WorldNetDaily)

Obama demands 10% defense cuts

Budgets $55 billion less on military, $314 billion more on social projects

By Jerome R. Corsi

© 2009 WorldNetDaily

The Obama administration asked the military's Joint Chiefs of Staff to cut the Pentagon budget for fiscal year 2010 by $55 billion, more than 10 percent of last year's $512 billion defense budget.

The announcement came late Friday, following a meeting at the White House between President Obama and Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. James Cartwright, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and Gen. Jim Jones, chairman of the National Security Council, according to a Fox News report.

The White House website appears to have no published notice of the Obama directive, nor was there any explanation from the White House how the proposed cuts might affect our military in the field in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The proposed cuts in the military budget come as the Obama administration's $825 billion economic stimulus plan goes to the Senate after passing the House last week without a single Republican vote.

Lies and damned lies

I doubt if the  MSM will report this on the nightly news.

Clarice Feldman

This morning brings us more evidence of how lies are quickly spread by the media around the world to create a kind of ersatz reality which it is hard to debunk.

From Haaretz we finally learn that the IDF did not attack the UN school, that the falsehood eas spread by a branch of the UN itself and that the eyewitnesses were prevented by the UN from telling the truth to reporters. The truth is now out but the media which carried the oritginal story is nowhere to be found at correction time:  (Full story at American Thinker)

Holy See demands Lefebvrists fully accept Second Vatican Council

.- The Vatican Secretariat of State made public a statement today that outlines several points the Lefebvrists must accept in the wake of Pope Benedict XVI’s lifting of the excommunication of four bishops ordained by Marcel Lefebvre in 1988, including “full recognition of the Second Vatican Council” and of the Magisteriums of all the Popes since Pius XII.

The statement, published by the L’Osservatore Romano, indicates that in the wake of Pope Benedict XVI’s kind gesture lifting the excommunications, “it is hoped an equal willingness on the part of the four bishops be expressed in total adherence to the doctrine and discipline of the Church.”

“The lifting of the excommunication has freed the four bishops from a very grave canonical penalty, but it has not changed the juridical situation of the Society of St. Pius X, which currently does not enjoy any canonical recognition in the Catholic Church. In addition, the four bishops, while they are no longer excommunicated, do not have a canonical role in the Church and do not licitly exercise a ministry in her,” the statement says.
In order for the SSPX to be recognized, the statement goes on to say, “full recognition of Vatican Council II, the Magisteriums of Popes John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I, John Paul II and Benedict XVI himself is an indispensable condition.”

“As the Decree of January 21, 2009, already stated, the Holy See will not cease to study in depth with those interested, in the ways considered opportune, the issues that are still open, in order to reach a full and satisfactory solution for the problems that have given rise to this painful break,” the letter states.
The letter also makes reference to the statements denying the Holocaust made by one of the four bishops, Richard Williamson, calling them “absolutely unacceptable and strongly rejected by the Holy Father, as he himself emphasized on January 28” during the General Audience of that day.

“In order to be admitted to episcopal functions in the Church, Bishop Williamson should also publicly and unequivocally distance himself from such positions about the Shoa, which were unknown by the Holy Father at the time of the lifting of the excommunication.”
The statement emphasizes that the Holy Father asks all of the faithful to pray for the Church and for the efforts by her pastors to protect the Church’s unity.

Vatican: Williamson Must Recant Statments on Holocaust

Posted by Ryan Sayre Patrico on February 4, 2009, 9:52 AM

(From First Things)

Holocaust-denying bishop Richard Williamson must “unequivocally” distance himself from his statements before he can be admitted to episcopal office in the Roman Catholic Church, the Vatican said on Wednesday.

It also said that Williamson’s remarks denying that the Nazis used gas chambers to eliminate millions of European Jews in World War II were not known to Pope Benedict XIV when he decided to lift the excommunication of four renegade bishops last month.
The Vatican statement also said that the rebel Priestly Association of Saint Pius X, to which the rebels belonged, must recognize the reformist Vatican II Council of 1962-65 and the popes who followed it.

Protect the Prisoner, Punish the Unborn

Obama's first two executive orders have drawn the ire of Americans across the country. These two presidential acts show a stark contrast in Obama's priorities and provide a window into the mind of the far left.

Protect the prisoner, punish the unborn. With all the problems facing America today, President Obama felt that his first official acts should be to make America less safe and to put more innocent human lives at risk. The American people have responded in a recent poll, but unfortunately, Obama and the far left aren't listening. (Full story at GOPUSA)

Obama may become a disaster

By James Lewis

By their actions ye shall know them. By now we are seeing an ominous pattern of actions by the O administration. We know that President Obama is a very slick liar indeed, but then so was Bill Clinton. But Clinton had a smaller majority in Congress, and was forced to compromise after the Gingrich Congress was elected in 1994. It is still possible that Obama may turn toward the mainstream. But the early omens look dark.  (Full story at American Thinker)

Sacred Secularism

Many folks have pointed out that Barack Obama has been treated by his supporters in and out of the media like a new messiah, the savior, the chosen one. Many other folks, including me, thought that this was not only sacrilegious but a case of downright overblown rhetorical politics. Now I'm not so sure.

After witnessing some of the inaugural high-jinks -- including the shabby treatment of George W. Bush -- I tried to be magnanimous, remembering the relief I felt when the reign of Bill Clinton ended and the GOP had regained the White House. Then I recalled how those of us who supported our 43rd president were scorned as "Bush-bots" and worse. (Full story at American Spectator)

Let’s Get Active!

The biggest advantage that pro-abortion forces will have in the next few years is not President Obama sitting in the White House, but us sitting in our houses! Defending the unborn and ending abortion requires that we get involved in constructive activity, that we join or start pro-life groups based on concrete projects, that we volunteer at pregnancy centers, pray at abortion mills, go to pro-life talks and prayer services, and do any of countless other activities of the pro-life movement. Thank God that so many of you are doing this already, and because of that our cause is making steady progress; let’s make this the biggest recruiting year ever for the cause of life! At http://www.priestsforlife.org/, you will find what you can do to end abortion.

‘Prevention First Act’ greater threat than FOCA, pro-lifers warn

.- Some pro-life leaders warn that activism against the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) is distracting attention from its “evil twin,” the Prevention First Act (PFA). The PFA provides more taxpayer funding for contraception and abortion and contains coercive elements which could deny federal funding to some pro-life hospitals.

Patrick Daub, writing in the American Life League’s Nov. 19 STOPP Report, said that the PFA would make Title X family planning a permanent program and fund it at $700 million or more. In 2008 it received only $300 million.

Title X is a major source of funding for Planned Parenthood. In 2008 the organization received about 25 percent of the total funding, $75 million. Under the new rules, it could receive $175 million.

At present, Title X is a temporary program which must be renewed every year. (Full story at CNA)

Is there sinister plot to squelch talk radio?

GOP lawmaker thrashes 'Fairness Doctrine' as 'government control over political views'

By Drew Zahn
© 2009 WorldNetDaily

Despite the absence of any action pending to re-enact the so-called "Fairness Doctrine," congressional Republicans have nonetheless introduced legislation to prevent its passage, insisting that Democrats are advancing a quiet agenda to silence conservative talk radio.

Whether Americans realize it or not, say Republican lawmakers, "Free speech is under attack."

For their part, several Democrats have denied there's any attempt underway to reestablish the "Fairness Doctine," insisting the GOP is trumping up paranoia that amounts to "much ado about nothing."

So which is it? (Full story at WorldNetDaily.com)

Rush fans pummel Democrat website

Petition rallying opposition to talk radio icon backfires.

Rush Limbaugh
A petition by the Democratic National Congressional Committee critical of Rush Limbaugh is backfiring as supporters of the talk radio icon pummel the party website with their own views.
Hundreds of people have signed the petition, which is introduced with the request to "Stand strong against Rush Limbaugh's Attacks – sign our petition, telling Rush what you think of his attacks on President Obama."

But contributors to the comment section of the petition, with few exceptions, have endorsed Limbaugh and his expressed desire for the failure of Obama's policies.

"Why [are] the public servants of the people that were elected by the people attacking a private citizen? Who is next - me?" said one post. "This is all the more reason TO LISTEN to RUSH LIMBAUGH. I HOPE OBAMA'S POLICIES FAIL TOO."

The Limbaugh-Hannity Administration

Rush Limbaugh has taken a week's vacation.

Twenty million Americans are twitching.

Nervous as well is the rest of the population that comprises almost half the country if not an actual majority. The liberal rest-of-the-crowd is sighing with relief, although considerably tensed at the realization President Limbaugh…sorry, Mr. Limbaugh…will in fact return.

Let not your heart be troubled. With America's real opposition leader recharging, a transfer of power has gone into effect and Vice President Hannity…ahhh, sorry, that would be Mr. Hannity…has the radio (and TV) reins. America will still be learning the truth.

Pope's Condemnation of Holocaust Denial is Clear

VATICAN CITY, 4 FEB 2009 (VIS) - Holy See Press Office Director Fr. Federico Lombardi S.J. made the following declaration yesterday afternoon:

"With reference to the latest requests for clarification concerning the position of the Pope and the Catholic Church on the subject of the Holocaust, it should be borne in mind that the Pope's ideas on this matter were very clearly expressed at the synagogue of Cologne, Germany, on 19 August 2005, at the concentration camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau on 28 May 2006, in the general audience of 31 May 2006 and, more recently, at the end of his general audience of 28 January this year, with unambiguous words of which we highlight the following: 'As I once again affectionately express my full and indisputable solidarity with our Brothers and Sisters who received the First Covenant, I trust that the memory of the Shoah will induce humankind to reflect upon the unpredictable power of evil when it conquers the heart of man. May the Shoah be for everyone an admonition against oblivion, negation and reductionism...

"The condemnation of Holocaust denial could not have been clearer, and from the context it is obvious that this also referred to the views of Msgr. Williamson and to all similar views. On the same occasion the Pope also clearly explained the purpose of the remission of the excommunication, which has nothing to do with legitimising Holocaust denial - something that, as we have explained, he clearly condemns".
